Terms of Service

Last updated: August 19, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of CodeExam Prep (the "Service"), operated by CodeExam Prep ("we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

2. What the Service is

CodeExam Prep provides study materials, practice questions, explanations, and exam-simulation tools to help candidates prepare for certification examinations. The Service is a study aid for personal, non-commercial use only. It is not a certification, training program, or a substitute for the official code books, courses, or examinations of any certifying body.

3. No affiliation with ICC or any certifying body

CodeExam Prep is an independent product. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise associated with the International Code Council (ICC) or any other certification or standards organization. "ICC", "International Residential Code", "IRC", exam designations such as "M1", and any related names or marks are the property of their respective owners and are used only for identification and descriptive purposes. Our questions and explanations are our own original study materials and are not official ICC exam questions. Please see our Disclaimer for more detail.

4. No guarantee of results

We do not guarantee that using the Service will result in a passing score on any examination, or any particular outcome. Exam results depend on many factors outside our control, including your own preparation, the specific exam version, and the policies of the certifying body. Any pass rates, testimonials, or expectations described anywhere on the Service are illustrative and are not a promise of results.

5. Accuracy of content

We work to keep our materials accurate and aligned with current codes, but codes, standards, and exam content change over time and may contain errors or omissions. Content is provided for study purposes only and must not be relied upon as legal, professional, engineering, code-compliance, or inspection advice. Always consult the current official code publications and your jurisdiction's authorities for authoritative requirements.

6. Payments, subscriptions & refunds

Certain features require payment. Prices are shown at checkout. One-time passes grant access for the stated period; annual plans renew automatically each year until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your billing settings; cancellation stops future renewals but does not retroactively refund the current period unless required by law. Payments are processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe); we do not store your full card details. Promotional codes and introductory prices are subject to their stated terms and may be changed or withdrawn at any time.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to: copy, resell, redistribute, publicly post, or share our content or your account; scrape or bulk-download the Service; reverse engineer or interfere with the Service; or use it for any unlawful purpose. Our content is protected by intellectual property laws and remains our property. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use it for your own exam preparation.

8. "As-Is" — no warranties

THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any content is complete or current.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CodeExam Prep and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, exam fees, lost time, or a failed or unsatisfactory exam result, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CodeExam Prep and its owner from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or misuse the Service. You may stop using the Service at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and intellectual property) will survive.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which the operator is based, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located there, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
